Heat pump refrigerants mainly include R22, R410A, R32, R290, etc.
R22 is a widely used medium and low temperature refrigerant, mainly used in household air conditioners, commercial air conditioners, central air conditioners, mobile air conditioners, heat pump water heaters, dehumidifiers, refrigerated dryers, cold storage, food freezing equipment and other refrigeration equipment. Although R22 is widely used, it is being gradually phased out due to its destructive effect on the ozone layer.
R410A is a new environmentally friendly refrigerant that does not damage the ozone layer. Its working pressure is about 1.6 times that of ordinary R22 air conditioners, and its cooling (heating) efficiency is higher. However, although R410A has zero damage to the ozone layer, its greenhouse gas effect partially exceeds that of R22, so it is not the ultimate environmental solution. At present, the industry generally recognizes R290 as a better alternative.
R32, also known as difluoromethane, is a colorless, odorless, non-toxic, low-flammability refrigerant with zero ozone depletion potential (ODP) and a global warming potential (GWP) of 0.11, making it one of the alternatives to R22.
R290, also known as propane, is a natural hydrocarbon refrigerant that does not contain chlorine atoms in its molecules, so its ODP value is zero and it has no destructive effect on the ozone layer. In addition, compared with HFC substances, R290's GWP value is close to 0 and has no effect on the greenhouse effect. The carbon dioxide emission reduction achieved by using air conditioners with R290 as a refrigerant is considerable.
